Planning Strategic Roadmaps

What is a Strategic Roadmap?

In the contemporary business environment, where the pace of change is rapid and the market demands are ever-evolving, a well-defined strategic roadmap is not just beneficial—it is essential for sustainable growth and success.

Alvanda‘s platform recognizes the critical nature of strategic planning and offers a comprehensive toolset for crafting and executing strategic roadmaps that align with the core areas of a business.

The platform advocates for a structured, quarter-based approach to strategic planning, encouraging organizations to focus on key areas such as sales, marketing, business development, and product or service quality.

This methodical approach ensures that initiatives are not only well-planned but also adaptable to the shifting dynamics of the business landscape.

Strategic roadmaps on Alvanda are designed to bring order and intention to what might otherwise be a chaotic process of idea generation and implementation.

By setting clear objectives and desired outcomes for each quarter, businesses can move from a reactive to a proactive stance, ensuring that every action taken is a step toward a larger, strategic goal.

This shift in mindset from ad-hoc decision-making to strategic planning is fundamental for building businesses that are not only resilient but also capable of thriving and scaling over time.

The platform’s user-friendly interface allows for the delineation of strategic areas and the assignment of specific initiatives to each, enabling a detailed and organized view of what needs to be achieved.

Additionally, the tool facilitates the monitoring of progress against these initiatives, providing a clear indicator of whether the business is on track to meet its quarterly objectives.

This level of granularity and oversight is pivotal in ensuring that strategic efforts are aligned with the overall vision and goals of the company.

Moreover, Alvanda emphasizes the importance of simplicity and focus in the planning process, recommending a limit to the number of tasks assigned to each initiative to prevent overwhelm and ensure the feasibility of achieving the set goals.

This practical advice underlines the platform’s commitment to not only strategic planning but also to the execution and operationalization of these plans.

Creating a Strategic Roadmap on Alvanda involves not just the articulation of goals and objectives but also the definition of actionable steps, responsible parties, and deadlines.

This comprehensive approach ensures that each member of the team knows what is expected of them and by when, fostering a culture of accountability and purpose-driven work.

The inclusion of rewards for achieving objectives further motivates teams, adding an element of excitement and anticipation to the completion of strategic initiatives.

In conclusion, Alvanda‘s platform offers a robust framework for planning and executing strategic roadmaps, ensuring that businesses can navigate the complexities of the modern marketplace with confidence and clarity.

This document aims to guide users through the process of leveraging Alvanda to create effective, dynamic, and results-oriented strategic roadmaps, thereby laying the foundation for a successful and forward-thinking business.

For a written step-by-step walkthrough continue reading below:

  1. Log into Alvanda Platform
  1. Click on the Strategic Roadmap button on the left hand side panel
  1. Here you can add multiple strategic areas by clicking on the Add New Strategic Area (1) button, depending on your company’s needs.

You can also add as many Strategic Initiativesfor each Quarter as you want, by clicking on the Add New Strategic Initiative (2) button relevant to each Quarter.

  1. Once you click on the Add New Strategic Initiative a new window will pop up as shown below.

You can go ahead and fill in the Objective Name and Desired Outcome, before clicking on the Add button.

  1. Once you’ve clicked on the Add button, the platform will automatically add your Strategic Initiative.

It will also automatically calculate how much time (1) you have left until the end of the Quarter, by which time the Strategic Initiative should be completed.

It will also calculate what percentage (2) of the Strategic Initiative is completed.

It also creates an automatic table with 100 items (3) to be done in the said Quarter for that specific Strategic Initiative.

  • We don’t recommend adding more than 100 tasks for one Strategic Initiative per Quarter.
  1. At the bottom of the 100 items is the Graduation Day (1) and Reward for Completion (2).

Graduation Day is how you, or your team, will know they’ve accomplished the Strategic Initiative for that Quarter.

Reward for Completion is anything that you want to reward yourself, or the team for having accomplished the Strategic Initiative for the Quarter

  1. You can then go ahead and complete the Action Steps that need to be completed in order to accomplish the Strategic Initiative for that Quarter.

You can add the Name of the Step (1), the Department (2) it falls under, who is the Main Responsible (3) person for completing the step, what Procedure (4) will be used to accomplish the step, Checkpoint (5) when to make sure there is some progress made on this step and Due Date (6), by when the task should be completed.

The Status (7) is automatically highlighted in Red if Overdue, Orange if Not Started, and Green if it is Completed.

  1. Once you create tasks in this part of the Alvanda platform, the same task will appear in the Assignee’s/ Person Responsible Task List.

You can see this by clicking on the Tasks button on the left hand side panel (1) and under Tasks you will see the relevant task (2), whether it is in the Overdue section, Today section or Later Section

  1. Once the person designated to do the task has completed it, the Status of the task within the Roadmap will appear Green/Completed automatically.
  1. If at any point, you feel you need more help or you have feedback for us, feel free to use the Help/Feedback button at the bottom right corner of the page.
